Misconceptions, Stereotypes and CCSS in Mathematics Education

Hi all,

Recently in class we discussed misconceptions our students may have in a given subject area.  Today, I was sent the following article through a email list that I am a part of for mathematics educators in the US.  This article ties together our discussion of misconceptions as they relate to mathematics classrooms and how this arthur understands CCSS to address this issue.  The stats provided in the article are rather shocking for sure, but more importantly, this article serves as one person's take on our shift to CCSS.
