I thought this article and video might spark some interest/debate in line with what we were discussing last week...

Okay, so other than giving me a headache, this is what I got from this article. Tell me if I'm missing something. The author has taken a position that there is some huge corporate conspiracy to funnel vast amounts of funding into the US eduction system, camouflaged as well intentioned grants (and legitimized by seed money from the Gates foundation) in order to serve their own selfish interests and bring forth a new generation of cloud based data collection which in turn will turn them a profit at some point down the road thus acting as a lead-loss? Even if this were true, who cares about their agenda? Do we not all agree that partnering with the nation's largest corporations in trying to improve upon our schools is a good thing, regardless of what they may or may not get out of it in the end? Personallly, I would think that companies like Exxon, Dell, Apple and other tech giants would be well served to help improve education purely due to the fact that if our math and science standards do not improve dramatically over the course of the next generation, they will run out of new blood to fuel future innovation which leads to profits. Isn't that motivation enough? I may have read this article in a way unintended by the author. If so please feel free to correct me.
